We stayed at this pretty gite for 4 nights in April whilst house hunting for ourselves in the local area. We booked via their own website which was very easy to use, and on arrival the owners made us feel very welcome. The gite itself was modern, clean and was equipped with everything you need including: a dishwasher; a powerful shower with massage jets; very comfortable beds with delicious crisp cotton bedding and a pretty balcony with a gorgeous view out over the rolling Bearn countryside - you could even see the snowcapped Pyrenees in the distance. The gite was also very well located for exploring the surrounding area, Pau is half an hours drive, the beach an hour and skiing was just over an hour away too. We loved our stay here and look forward to buying a property in this beautiful area of SW France. Thank you! ~ Angela M

Belle espace en extérieur afin de profiter du jardin. L'espace du gîte est quand à lui idéal pour être en famille. Je recommande ce gîte si vous allez faire un séjour aux alentours de Pau. ~ Emeline C

Gîtes de Bernet is in a great location for exploring the south west corner of France with Pau and the Pyrenees within easy reach. The nearby local town of Monein has a great market, award winning boulangerie and excellent restaurants. Fantastic cycling and walking on the doorstep and surrounding area too! And it’s in the Jurançon wine producing area so sampling this superb local wine is a must! The gîte was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Also the private terrace outside is a great sun trap for relaxing and enjoying al fresco dining. Rebecca and Ben were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We’ll definitely be back! ~ Maggie L

Watching our three children play together in the meadows set into the rolling foothill hills of the Jurancon against the sunlight Pyrenean skyscape whilst swirling an aged Madiran red over a charcoal barbeque and listening to the occasional distant chime of a cowbell has to be amongst the most evocative holiday memories ever that I can recall. Clean, contemporary accommodation and welcoming hosts clinched the vote for a return visit, can't beat it for ultimate chill factor yet with bags of things to do on the doorstep. ~ Paul R

There are three properties here and we have stayed in all of them - I wouldn't know which one to say I preferred as they are all fantastic. They are clean and well kept. The owners are fantastic and on hand to help and give suggestions. It is a great base, for a holiday in the Bearn with easy access and plenty of parking on site. It is in a very peaceful location and on a clear evening you can see so many stars and the sunsets are amazing. I would highly recommend these gites. ~ Nicky F

Recently had the pleasure to stay at the Gite de Bernet! Rebecca and Ben were perfect Hosts and extremely helpful. This is a unique area of France that I did not know and thanks to all the "tips" Rebecca suggested I discovered many beautiful villages and historique sites. The one bedroom apartment "Les Hirondelles" was very comfortable, spacious and well equipped for a long or short stay...nothing missing! Thank you Ben and Rebecca for the lovely stay. We've just had a wonderful holiday at Gites de Bernet and can't recommend it highly enough. It's clean, simply but tastefully furnished with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed in the Cottage which is perfect for a family of four. Ben and Becs, the owners, are friendly, welcoming and know so much about the local area. There's plenty to do in the area and if you're stuck for an idea then they're always happy to make suggestions. We'd recommend going to a few of the local vineyards for a tasting, visiting the Friday Market at Oloron St Marie, the Monein Fete (especially the wine tasting on the Sunday morning and the Fireworks on the Monday night - we missed the cow jumping on the Saturday unfortunately), white water rafting down the Gave D'Oloron, the mountain train at Artuste, Navarrenx is pretty, swimming in the river at Sauveterre (look for Au Fils de l'eau) a trip to the coast at St Jean de Luz (which is a lot quieter than Biarritz - also worth a visit but get there early) - the big inflatables on the lake at Orthez, Aqua Bearn near Oloron, Bayonne, Pau and so much more. We've only scratched the surface so we'll be back ~ Nick S

Les Hirondelles gite was perfect for the 3 of us, so spacious and airy with all the necessary amenities. Our hosts were so warm and friendly and spoke both English and French. A fabulous family holiday with lots to keep our three teenage children busy and active. Our hosts Becs and Ben couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful during our stay. We were lucky to be there for the Les fete de Monein and enjoyed the party atmosphere and fireworks. We will definitely be returning ! ~ Jenny P

We had a lovely, relaxing stay at The Cottage. The rural setting was peaceful and beautiful, perfect for unwinding. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and we especially enjoyed meeting their two sweet donkeys. The cottage had everything we needed and was cozy and comfortable. My husband, 18-year-old son and I have just spent 8 days at beautiful Gites de Bernet, just outside the pretty town of Monein. We were in Rose Cottage which has 2 large bedrooms, a double & a twin. The double has fabulous views looking out at the surrounding countryside. There’s a huge family bathroom on the first floor + an additional toilet downstairs. The ground floor is open plan - kitchen/dining area & comfy lounge. The gîte is a true home from home with everything you could possibly need for a self-catered holiday. The garden is well-maintained and has a lovely seating area on the patio, which we enjoyed at breakfast time. There’s also an awning offering shade. We loved getting to know the Coeur de Béarn area & very easily filled our week. It’s perfect for hiking, cycling, river/lake swims, less than an hour from Les Pyrenees & also the coast. Rebecca & Ben were superb hosts from the very beginning, with our reservation, advice sent before we travelled, so we were able to do some research & pre-plan activities such as white water rafting & booking a table at a local French restaurant. The Jurancon area is fantastic for wine tasting tours, many of which can be pre-arranged. There are dozens of small vineyards in the local vicinity & the wines are delicious. I highly recommend Gites de Bernet & would definitely hope to return again in the future. Thank you Rebecca & Ben for making us feel so welcome. ~ Ruth K
